Cheltenham Town has officially signed midfielder Shaun McWilliams following his departure from Rotherham United at the conclusion of last season.

The 27-year-old player joined Rotherham in May 2024 and made 26 appearances in League One last season, during which he scored two goals.

Before his time at Rotherham, McWilliams spent eight years with Northampton Town, helping the club achieve two promotions to the third tier.

Cheltenham’s head coach, Steve Cotterill, commented on the signing: “He gives us something different to what we have in midfield; opposing teams won’t enjoy playing against him. He has a bit of bite.”
