Following Brazil’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup, attention has quickly turned to Vinicius Jr.’s future at Real Madrid.

The attacker’s contract expires at the end of next season, putting Real Madrid at risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The player will also be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement in six months, a scenario Real Madrid is eager to avoid.

According to El Debate, Real Madrid are ready to sell Vinicius this summer if they cannot reach a contract renewal agreement with the Brazilian player.

The report indicates that new coach Jose Mourinho wants to resolve the issue swiftly, as he does not tolerate lengthy uncertainties within his team.

Mourinho seeks clarity regarding Vinicius’ commitment to the club.

Should Vinicius not sign a new contract, Real Madrid would prefer to sell him now and recover a significant fee rather than risk losing one of their key players for free in a year.

For Mourinho, short-term fixes do not provide certainty, and he wants to determine who is committed for the long term as he builds his project around talents like Kylian Mbappe, with names like Michael Olise, Rodri, and Alessandro Bastoni also linked to the club.

Despite the urgency, an agreement still appears distant as both parties remain divided on financial terms.

Real Madrid’s current proposal reportedly falls €6-10 million short of Vinicius’ expectations.

The club has offered around €20 million net per season, but Vinicius’ representatives seek a significantly higher amount.

While discussions continue, no significant progress has been made.

Real Madrid’s hesitation is not solely financial; they are determined to uphold their wage structure, concerned that creating exceptions for Vinicius could complicate future contract negotiations.

With several key players facing contract renewals until 2029, Los Blancos aim to maintain their salary hierarchy.
