Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus faced Basel in their first 2026-27 summer friendly, resulting in a goalless tie.

The Bianconeri had a reunion on the field with their former defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, now the coach of the Swiss team.

Douglas Luiz, a former Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa loanee, started for Juventus and was substituted at halftime for Arthur, another player returning from a loan spell.

In the second half, Luiz earned a penalty, but Perin managed to save it.

“It could have been difficult to create chances, but we managed to do so, and did so well, too,” Spalletti said via Juventus’ official website.

“There was a bit of a lack of precision in key moments and two or three occasions where we could have scored, but the opposition goalkeeper was in fine form. I’m pleased with the commitment I’ve seen this week.”

Jeremie Boga commented: “The team put in a good performance. I feel good personally, and it’s great to get back out there and play again.

“I think we played a good game, of course we’re not at our best physically yet, but with the ball, we showed some good stuff, and that’s exactly what we want to do this year. We’ll approach each game with the goal of improving our condition.”
