Liverpool Eyes AS Roma’s Manu Kone Amid Competition from Manchester United
In a recent episode of the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool is set to enter the race for AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone alongside Manchester United. O’Rourke stated,
“Man United have brought in Tielemans and Santos, and they would like to bring in a third, more defensive midfielder.

“Kone fits the bill for them in that respect; he’s had a very good World Cup for France when he’s played for them as well.
“However, there are a lot of clubs interested in signing him, and there has been talk that Liverpool could potentially make a move for him after watching him at the World Cup.
“We know they also want to improve their midfield options, and he is somebody who is very much on their radar as they aim to strengthen Andoni Iraola’s squad.
“Roma would be reluctant sellers due to their finances. They would find it hard to turn down a big money offer for Kone. He still has three years left on his contract.”

Kone’s Solid Season In Serie A
Kone had a strong season with the Italian club, showing impressive form in Serie A. The 25-year-old scored two goals and provided three assists in 37 matches for AS Roma last season across all competitions.
The French talent is considered one of the best central midfielders in France, making him a valuable target for Liverpool as they look to enhance their squad this summer.

His current contract with AS Roma extends until the summer of 2029, posing a challenge for the Reds in pursuing him at a bargain price this year.
Will Kone Be A Good Option For Liverpool?
Kone is known for his tackling ability and timing, effectively regaining possession for his team in defensive situations. He also demonstrates solid passing skills.
Moreover, Kone can score and provide goals from his midfielder position. Yet, it remains uncertain if he can quickly adapt to the demands of the Premier League.

Adding Kone would enhance the quality and depth of Liverpool’s midfield under coach Andoni Iraola. He could compete for a regular starting position at Anfield next season.
At 25, Kone has his prime years ahead of him and would support Liverpool’s ambitions across all competitions in the years to come. Therefore, the pursuit of Kone represents a promising opportunity for Liverpool this off-season.
