Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly call time on his decorated international career after one more appearance for Portugal at a beloved venue.

Ronaldo, 41, scored three goals in five matches for Portugal at the 2026 World Cup including a brace against Uzbekistan in the group stage and a penalty versus Croatia in the Round of 32, playing 441 minutes at the tournament.

That brings his international haul to 146 goals and 45 assists in 233 caps. He has 87 more caps than all-time No. 2 Joao Moutinho and 99 more goals over Portugal’s No. 2 scorer Pauleta.

But Goal.com’s Moataz Elgammal, citing a Portuguese agent, says that Ronaldo will take the field for Portugal one more time in a UEFA Nations League match against Wales at Sporting Lisbon’s Estadio Jose Alvalade on Sept. 24.

Ronaldo won’t be quitting the game any time soon even if the Wales game turns out to be his last with Portugal.

The veteran’s contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr runs through June 30, 2027, when he’ll be 42 years old.

Ronaldo has been a prolific scorer for his entire career, so it’s no surprise that he’s averaged nearly a goal per game with Al-Nassr. In 142 games across all competitions, he’s scored 123 times with 24 assists.

Ronaldo has long been rumored to be seeking 1,000 career goals between club and country.

The Portuguese has 970 goals in 1,324 games combined for Real Madrid, Manchester United, Al-Nassr, Juventus, Sporting Lisbon, and the Portugal national team.

With 30 goals in 37 games for his club last season and a host of great playmakers around him, it’s not improbable that he hits 1,000 this season.

Al-Nassr just hired Ange Postecoglou and he’s a well-established lover of attacking football. Ronaldo is flanked by Kingsley Coman, Sadio Mane, and Joao Felix. The opportunities should continue to come his way.
