Whoever advances from the clash will face São Paulo in the tournament’s round of 16, with the second leg necessarily taking place at MorumBIS.

For the match in La Paz, Bolivia’s capital, at an altitude of 3,637 meters, coach Luís Castro comes into the game under pressure at the helm of the Tricolor Gaúcho.

That is because the team returned from the break for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 defeat to Mirassol in the countryside of São Paulo in the Brasileirão last Friday (17).

Compared with the match that ended the first half of the national league, the 64-year-old Portuguese coach opted to bring in Luis Eduardo, Wagner Leonardo, Pedro Gabriel, Dodi, Leo Pérez, Enamorado and Braithwaite in place of Gustavo Martins, Kannemann, Caio Paulista, Nardoni, Gabriel Mec, Amuzu and Carlos Vinícius, respectively, for Grêmio.
