Fiorentina Emerges as Top Contender for Real Madrid’s Franco Mastantuono on Loan
Reports are increasingly suggesting that Fiorentina is the frontrunner to acquire Real Madrid’s young talent Franco Mastantuono on loan. The 19-year-old player, who was joined from River Plate last summer for €45 million plus add-ons, is set to celebrate his birthday next month.
Despite his potential, Mastantuono has struggled to secure regular playing time at Real Madrid. As a result, the plan is to let him go out on loan this term to gain more experience in European football.
Other clubs have expressed interest in the young player as well, including Fulham in the Premier League, Villarreal, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla in Spain, along with Sporting CP in Portugal and Juventus. He could even return to River Plate.
Fiorentina First Choice for Mastantuono
According to reports from TyC Sports and Diario AS, Fiorentina is favored to secure Mastantuono on a dry loan, which does not include an option for a permanent transfer.
The discussion surrounding Mastantuono’s loan could take place during a friendly match between Fiorentina and Real Madrid in Austria on August 1. This situation may also be influenced by the successful progress of Argentine international Nico Paz at Como, who is in a co-ownership deal.
Mastantuono’s Italian heritage allows him to join Fiorentina without occupying a non-EU player spot in their squad. The teenager has made 35 appearances for Real Madrid, starting 17 of those matches, during which he scored three goals and received a red card against Getafe.
