FC Köln has turned down Borussia Dortmund’s improved offer for Germany international Said El Mala as BVB strives to bridge the gap with the cathedral city side. According to Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger, Dortmund’s latest proposal featured a base transfer fee of just under €40 million, with potential bonuses that could raise the total package to approximately €45 million.

However, Köln has firmly rejected this offer, maintaining their demand of at least €50 million for the 19-year-old.

This new bid marks a significant enhancement compared to Dortmund’s first attempt to sign El Mala. Different reports surfaced regarding the specifics of that initial bid, with Sport Bild noting a figure of €34 million plus €6 million in bonuses, while Sky Germany suggested around €26 million guaranteed with an additional €16 million in potential add-ons.

BVB has thus made a substantial increase in the guaranteed portion of their offer.

The player’s interest may play a crucial role if negotiations persist. El Mala has reportedly shown his eagerness to join Dortmund, though he has remained professional and has not attempted to force a move away from Köln.

It remains uncertain whether Dortmund will submit another improved offer in the near future.
