Woking Secures Loans for Midfielder Turner and Defender Putman
Woking has announced the acquisition of midfielder Steven Turner and defender Jaiden Putman. Turner joins on a season-long loan from Ipswich, while Putman comes in on a short-term loan from Queens Park Rangers.
Turner, aged 20, makes a return to Kingfield after previously playing six matches for the club on loan at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season. Jody Brown, Woking’s Director of Football, expressed delight about Turner’s return, stating, “We’d always hoped to bring Steven back after he impressed back in April. Of course, that was dependent on Ipswich Town. He’s spent pre-season with their first team, but the dialogue never stopped. We are really pleased to have him here for the season.”
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Putman arrives to provide injury cover. He made his debut for QPR in the EFL Cup against Plymouth Argyle in August 2025, and subsequently went on loan to National League South side Bath City, where he made 25 appearances in the latter part of the previous season.
Reflecting on his move, Putman conveyed enthusiasm on Woking’s official website: “As soon as I spoke to the coaching staff, it was clear this was the right place for me to continue my development. Hopefully, I can make a positive impact and repay the faith the club has shown in me.”
