Givairo Read’s future with Feyenoord is still unclear as the Eredivisie season kicks off this weekend. Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst has outlined several possibilities.

During this transfer window, Read has attracted interest from both Nottingham Forest and AS Roma. However, AS Roma’s recent attempt to secure his transfer fell through, as Feyenoord’s €30 million asking price was deemed excessive.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Sparta Rotterdam, Van Bronckhorst discussed Read’s situation. He noted that he views Read as a mature player and mentioned their conversation about potential outcomes regarding his future.

“I saw a very mature player and discussed with him that there are multiple scenarios,” Van Bronckhorst stated. “There is a scenario where he stays here, but there is also a scenario where he leaves. I discussed that with him, but he is in a good position. You wouldn’t know from him that there have been negotiations; he trains well and is inherently a positive guy.”

While transfer discussions have hit a pause, Van Bronckhorst did not confirm whether Read will remain at the club. “He is a player who is in high demand, but the clubs also need to reach an agreement. I don’t want to say that a definitive deal is off the table.”

Speaking about his own career journey, Van Bronckhorst shared advice on development. “You can only keep training and keep developing yourself, waiting for the puzzle to eventually fall into place. I was quite relaxed about it, even when my dream club Barcelona came calling.”
