Serie A Transfer News: Pellegrino Joins Fiorentina, Piccoli to Bologna

The domino effect continues in Serie A, with Mateo Pellegrino transferring to Fiorentina for €25 million, while Roberto Piccoli moves to Bologna for €18 million plus add-ons. Thijs Dallinga has also signed with FC Koln.

Earlier reports indicated a chain reaction was underway, signaling a movement of centre-forwards among various Serie A clubs.

The first move involved El Bilal Touré joining Parma from Atalanta on loan with an option to buy, which will convert to an obligation if certain conditions are met.

    Piccoli Next to Move

Recent reports indicate that Pelligrino will join Fiorentina on loan, with an obligation to buy set at approximately €25 million. This move paves the way for Fiorentina to loan Piccoli to Bologna, with an obligation to buy for €18 million plus add-ons and a 10 percent share of any future sales fee.

The obligation to buy is reportedly triggered as long as Bologna remains in Serie A, making it easier for the club to follow through. Corriere dello Sport reporter Eleonora Trotta noted that Bologna initially preferred a loan option, but agent Alessandro Lucci ensured that Piccoli would only move under terms providing guarantees.

To facilitate this transfer, Bologna has agreed to send Dallinga on loan to German side FC Koln.

The domino effect is in progress, with Mateo Pellegrino joining Fiorentina for €25m, Roberto Piccoli to Bologna for €18m plus add-ons, and Thijs Dallinga to FC Koln.

We had already reported on the knock-on effect, a form of centre-forward merry-go-round between various Serie A clubs.

The first domino already fell, with El Bilal Touré joining Parma from Atalanta on loan with an option to buy that become an obligation if certain conditions are met.

    Piccoli next domino to fall

Now the others are falling into place too, with multiple reports Parma have agreed to hand Pellegrino to Fiorentina on loan with an obligation to buy for a total of around €25m.

In turn, Fiorentina can then send their striker Piccoli to Bologna, on loan with obligation to buy for €18m plus add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of the future sale fee.

It’s reported that the obligation becomes active as long as Bologna remain in Serie A, so very easy to achieve.

According to Corriere dello Sport reporter Eleonora Trotta, Bologna had initially wanted this to be a loan with option, but agent Alessandro Lucci made sure Piccoli would only move with guarantees.

Bologna make room by agreeing the loan with option to buy of Dallinga to German side FC Koln.
