Real Madrid Secures 3-0 Victory Over Schalke in Pre-Season Finale

Real Madrid concluded their pre-season friendlies with a decisive 3-0 win against Schalke on Sunday, featuring several new players making their debuts. Ibrahima Konate and Yan Diomande joined the starting lineup for the first time since transferring from Liverpool and RB Leipzig, respectively. Marc Cucurella, the newly signed left-back, also made his debut in the match.

The former Chelsea defender played in the second half of the match in Gelsenkirchen, giving fans a first look at him in Real Madrid colors. He made a positive impression and shared his thoughts with Real Madrid TV (via MD) following the game, reflecting on his initial experiences with the club and the match against Schalke.

“I think that with these colleagues everything is easier. The good things start in no way. I’m very happy, I think it was a great game from everyone, a great result before the league started. First minutes, with a lot of desire, getting into rhythm and eagerness. Behind all this there is a lot of work, very happy for everything that is happening to me, I hope I continue like this and enjoy this experience.”

Cucurella: My teammates make everything easier

When asked about his new teammates, Cucurella expressed confidence in their camaraderie, noting that they are already starting to function as a cohesive team.

“They are very good people, they make it very easy for everyone to arrive, it is important to have a good group, that it is noticeable on the field that we are a unit.”

Real Madrid has had a productive pre-season, and despite Cucurella’s late arrival, he appears to have integrated seamlessly into the squad. The club hopes his presence will effectively address the challenges they have faced at left-back since Marcelo’s departure.

Real Madrid defeated Schalke 3-0 in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday, a match in which there was multiple debutants. Ibrahima Konate and Yan Diomande featured for the first move since joining from Liverpool and RB Leipzig, with the same also being said for new starting left-back Marc Cucurella.

The former Chelsea defender played the second half in Gelsenkirchen, which allowed supporters to see him in the Real Madrid colours for the first time. He performed well, and after the match, he spoke to Real Madrid TV (via MD) to react to his first couple of weeks at the club, as well as the game itself against Schalke.

Cucurella was also asked to give an assessment of his new teammates. He sees them well, and he believes they are already working together as a cohesive unit.

It has been a productive pre-season for Real Madrid, and while Cucurella has not been there for most of it, he does look to have immediately fit in well. The club will hope that his arrival will have solved their issues at left-back, which have largely been present ever since Marcelo departed.
