Sunderland has yet to finalize a deal to secure the services of Igor Paixao (26) from Olympique de Marseille, but according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri, they are now facing competition for the Brazilian forward’s signature.

Paixao made the move to OM from Feyenoord last season in a €30 million transfer and is already on the verge of leaving just a year later. While discussions continue between Marseille and Sunderland regarding a potential transfer, no agreement has yet been reached. Additionally, talks are ongoing between the Premier League club and Paixao’s representatives. Get French Football News has reported that the player’s agents were in London for discussions on Thursday.

Despite Bruno Genesio’s desire to keep Paixao, who is the only recognized senior left-winger in the team, Marseille is not ruling out a departure. The likelihood of Paixao’s exit seems to have increased, even as Sunderland remains without a finalized deal. He is also considered a potential option for Al-Ittihad if the Saudi club cannot secure Ritsu Doan.

The chances of Paixao leaving have now increased, even if Sunderland are no closer to concluding a deal. He is seen as an option for Al-Ittihad, should the Saudi side fail to wrap up a deal for Ritsu Doan.
