Meanwhile, Arsenal is proactively pursuing an early extension of their captain’s contract and has already conducted preliminary informal discussions with the player.
Sky indicates that Odegaard could see himself playing for Bayern, but Arsenal is focused on extending his contract as they might reconsider selling him if negotiations falter, with interest from other elite European clubs as well.

Odegaard’s current deal expires in 2028, prompting Arsenal to act before his contract reaches its final year. At 27, the Gunners’ captain has the potential to remain competitive for several more years.

In the recently concluded 2025/26 season, Odegaard faced challenges with injuries, missing a total of 30 games for both club and country due to seven separate setbacks.
This might explain why Arsenal delayed contract discussions, as they sought to ensure his return to full fitness first.

Fortunately, Odegaard appears to have made a complete recovery. Since June 7th, he has missed only one game for Norway and participated in 24 available matches, including a streak of 21 games for both club and country without any unused substitute appearances or squad absences.

Additionally, he is performing well, having scored five goals and provided nine assists in those games. In a recent match against Fleetwood Town, he notably stood out as the only player performing at the necessary level.
With his fitness and form returning, Arsenal is aiming to solidify a new contract before Bayern Munich shifts its interest towards securing Odegaard’s services.
