Michael Ballack Defends Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl Amidst Criticism
Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl has gained support from advisor Michael Ballack after facing criticism from Uli Hoeneß, honorary president and supervisory board member of Bayern Munich.
This follows Hoeneß’s comments suggesting Karl is “far from being a superstar” and that young players should exhibit humility, as comparisons to Michael Olise are “not helpful”.

Ballack, working as a pundit for DAZN, responded by stating: “Lennart is 18 years old. Where were you at 18?”
“He is experimenting both on and off the pitch,” Ballack acknowledged.
“In today’s world, social media plays a significant role for all generations. Everyone has the opportunity to express themselves, although it can lead to mistakes.”
“Condemnation is unavoidable, but it shouldn’t interfere with one’s sporting growth, which is precisely what Bayern seems to be doing.”
Following Bayern’s 6-1 DFB Pokal victory against 2. Bundesliga team Magdeburg on Wednesday, sporting director Max Eberl remarked: “Lenny must demonstrate that he can overcome this downturn.”

Ballack promptly came to Karl’s defense, noting: “Max Eberl’s assertion that Lennart is in a sporting slump while his performance shows clear improvement is puzzling, particularly in terms of timing and substance.”
Ballack, a former Bayern player, praised Karl’s progress: “Lennart’s development over the past year has been exceptional.”
“His ability to stand out at Bayern speaks to his remarkable football talent and—more importantly, especially at a top club—his character!”
“Lennart Karl possesses strong character. It’s likely that he will clash with some individuals throughout his career. I hope he remains steadfast and not be overly influenced before he reaches 20. He has my full backing in this.”
