Luka Modric believes AC Milan showcased their finest performance of the season during their 3-1 victory against Inter in the Derby della Madonnina on Saturday evening, expressing gratitude to the supporters for creating an atmosphere that “helps you win even more.”

Milan surged into a two-goal lead early on with goals from Christian Pulisic and Adrien Rabiot within the first ten minutes. However, Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni managed to halve the deficit with a header midway through the first half. Just before halftime, Diego Moreira, who was instrumental in setting up the first two Milan goals, extended Milan’s lead with a well-executed free-kick.

After the match, Modric spoke to CBS Sports Golazo and referred to the derby victory as “an amazing win, an amazing performance.”

He remarked, “From the first minute, I think this is maybe our best game of the season. Overall, we deserved the victory and we’re really happy after a disappointing result midweek against Bologna.”

On how he supported Milan and particularly their younger players following their midweek setback, Modric stated, “You have to be positive. You can’t moan a lot about the last game because you know the next game is coming quickly. It’s a big game, and there’s no better opportunity than to prove yourself against Inter, and we did. Unfortunately, if we want to do something big, we can’t allow ourselves to lose these games like in Bologna.”

He added, “We are growing as a team, there are new ideas of playing. Sometimes there will be ups and downs but we have to try to keep those downs to a minimum if we want to win titles.”

Regarding the atmosphere in San Siro on Saturday night, Modric remarked: “It was amazing. Ever since I came here, the atmosphere’s been incredible, every game but especially in these kinds of games, derby games. Tonight, from the warm-up, they were incredible, and this type of atmosphere helps you win even more.”
