Headline: Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde Returns to Training Ahead of Champions League Clash
Real Madrid experienced a challenging start to the 2026-27 season, particularly struggling in away matches. The team’s defeats against Real Betis and Atletico Madrid raised concerns about their overall performance.
However, manager Jose Mourinho has managed to improve the team’s form, culminating in a significant victory against FC Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou during the first El Clasico of the season.

While the victory was a notable achievement for Los Blancos, it came with a setback. Federico Valverde, who played as a fullback, sustained an injury and continued to play despite pain during the match against the Blaugranes. Consequently, he was unable to play in the last league game against Racing Club, which Real Madrid won 3-0.
Fortunately, as reported by MARCA, Valverde has returned to training with his teammates at Valdebebas on Monday. This development makes him highly likely to participate in the upcoming UEFA Champions League match against AEK Athens.
During Monday’s training sessions, which followed the victory at El Sardinero, the starters focused on recovery, while other players engaged in regular training, including physical and tactical drills along with specific scenario training.
With Valverde back in training, Raul Asencio and Rodrygo Goes remain the only players not participating with the group. The team anticipates their return to full fitness soon, as Real Madrid needs all its players performing at their best to maintain competitiveness across all competitions.
