Chukwueze Delays Return from Injury for Surgery

AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze Undergoes Hip Surgery, Faces Extended Recovery

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has successfully undergone hip surgery in London and reports suggest he will be sidelined for over three months. The club confirmed the surgery on Wednesday, which aimed to repair a ruptured tendon in the tensor fasciae latae muscle of his left hip.

“The operation, performed by Professor Ernest Schilders with Dr. Stefano Mazzoni in attendance, was successful. Chukwueze will return to Italy today, where he will begin his rehabilitation,” the club stated.

While AC Milan has not disclosed an official timeline for Chukwueze’s recovery, multiple Italian sources indicate that the Nigerian international is unlikely to return before three months. Chukwueze had been substituted during a Serie A match against Atalanta on October 18, where the initial treatment plan involved conservative therapy. However, after a few weeks, the medical staff determined that surgery was necessary, extending his recovery period.

Reports from Corriere dello Sport suggest that Chukwueze may be out for at least three months, while Gazzetta provides a bleaker perspective, indicating he could be unavailable until spring. This extended absence could mean he remains off the pitch for as long as five months.

Chukwueze made his return to Milan from a one-season loan at Fulham during the summer and quickly established himself as a key player, providing two assists in eight matches across all competitions.
