Barcelona is actively monitoring Real Betis defender Natan as a potential transfer target, according to information from journalist Matteo Moretto on Radio MARCA. The La Liga champions could encounter stiff competition for the 25-year-old, as several Premier League clubs are also interested in him as they prepare for the summer of 2027.
Following the injury setbacks to Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, and Jules Kounde in recent weeks, Barcelona has recognized the need for additional depth in their defense. This situation has prompted the club to reassess its transfer strategy.
Barcelona keeping tabs on Natan
After opting not to bolster their defense during the summer transfer window, Barcelona is now looking to the market to secure a new center-back. The team is particularly keen to sign a left-footed center-back, ideally using the upcoming January transfer window.

Barcelona’s sporting department, led by Deco, has already identified several potential candidates for the position, with Natan being a key player in their considerations.
Premier League clubs show interest
Barcelona is not alone in its pursuit of Natan, as multiple Premier League clubs have also shown interest in the defender. Reports suggest that these clubs have already made inquiries about the Brazilian center-back, viewing him as a target for the upcoming summer of 2027.
Additionally, Moretto indicates that Real Betis is unwilling to part ways with Natan during the January transfer window, which presents a challenge for Barcelona’s plans.

Despite a strong working relationship between Barcelona and Real Betis, it seems unlikely that Natan will leave in January as he is viewed as a vital player in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans. The possibility of a sale could arise in the summer, though. The main question remains whether Barcelona is willing to wait until then to reinforce their defense amid potential competition from Premier League clubs.
Alongside Natan, Barcelona is also considering Castello Lukeba of RB Leipzig, but a transfer in January seems unlikely. They are also looking at Lisandro Martinez from Manchester United, who may be a more attainable option for the winter window.
