Botafogo Appoints Former Referee Marcelo de Lima Henrique as Refereeing Advisor
Botafogo has officially appointed former referee Marcelo de Lima Henrique to their staff. Following his retirement from officiating at the end of October, Henrique will take on the role of refereeing advisor, a new position for the club. The announcement was reported by both the Arena Alvinegra channel and GE.
In his new role, Henrique will provide guidance to players and coaching staff regarding the rules of football. He plans to create comprehensive profiles for the referees designated to officiate Botafogo’s matches, which will include each official’s performance history.
Additionally, Henrique will serve as a liaison between Botafogo and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), facilitating communication between the club and the governing body.
So, do you think it’s a good idea? And do you think other referees will join clubs after retiring? Leave a comment!
