Blues Must Boost Killer Instinct, Coach Says

Team Secures Early Goals but Needs to Maintain Momentum for Top Position

In the lead-up to Tuesday night’s match, concerns arose with the news that both August Priske and James Beadle would be absent. Given that most of Millwall’s squad stands taller than six feet, height in the lineup would prove crucial.

However, Alex Cochrane managed to shift the momentum almost immediately, scoring within the first minute of the match—an impressive feat that sparked an energetic performance from the team. The first half showcased a dominant display against an opponent that was just a few points behind in the standings.

Yet, there was a noticeable dip in performance during the second half. To make a genuine push for the top of the table, the team will need to develop a sharper edge in their play. The statistics indicate that teams that have recently been promoted tend to score frequently, underscoring the need to enhance their attacking strategies.

On the defensive side, the team has been performing well, and hopes remain high that both Christoph Klarer and Phil Neumann will avoid injuries or suspensions. Dael Fry, however, seems to be struggling for playtime recently.

The strength of the team currently shines through with the quality of players available for wing positions. While Liam Millar and Patrick Roberts hold starting spots, Carlos Vicente and Demarai Gray effectively pressure opposing defenses when they come on as substitutes.

A special mention goes to Jay Stansfield, who finally netted the goal he has been seeking, much to the delight of the home crowd. His contributions during each match, including two solid chances on Saturday, have been invaluable.

With another three-game week ahead, the team is aiming for a maximum nine points. A challenging encounter with Swansea awaits this Saturday; having recently stumbled against Portsmouth, they will be eager to bounce back.

Both sides will be vying for an additional three points as they approach the international break.
