Brighton & Hove Albion Coach Pleased with Team’s Form Ahead of Tottenham Clash
Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Arturo Ruiz expressed satisfaction with his team’s positive performance as they prepare for this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League match against Tottenham Hotspur. The Seagulls have secured four victories in their last five matches across all competitions.
In a pre-match press conference, Ruiz remarked on the team’s current momentum. “We are in a very good moment,” he stated. “We need to keep our high performance, maintain balance, and uphold our motivation for the upcoming fixtures. We are working at a very good rhythm and pace. I’m really happy with the momentum and recent results.”
Brighton recently staged a comeback to beat Crystal Palace 2-1, showcasing their resilience as they have consistently performed well in the latter stages of games this season. Ruiz noted the team’s determination, saying, “In our 11 games, the team has never thrown in the towel. They have worked hard in every game, which is one of our characteristics. It demonstrates the attitude of the players, and that’s huge.”
The coach highlighted the competitiveness of his squad as a major asset for the season. “We have a very competitive squad, a very competitive team, and that’s something that’s going to represent us throughout the whole season,” he added.
Brighton will face Spurs for the second time this season, having lost 1-0 in a Subway Players Cup fixture last month. Ruiz believes his team is now in a stronger position for this upcoming encounter. “The starting XI’s on both teams were really strong, and the substitutes as well,” he noted.
Reflecting on the previous match against Tottenham, Ruiz mentioned the disappointment of not securing points despite creating opportunities. “Right now, we are a different team and we are better in all of the moments in the game,” he said. “There’s no guarantee that we will get better results, but it’s our expectation and definitely our target. We have learned a lot from that game and from all the games that we’ve played so far.”
Looking ahead, Ruiz expressed enthusiasm about the match on Sunday, stating, “We are very excited, very motivated, and very confident about Sunday’s game. Having played against them before is very helpful.”
The Barclays Women’s Super League clash between Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur is set to kick off at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
