Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde appears set to depart the club during the January transfer window, either on loan or permanently. Recent rumors suggested a potential swap deal involving Arsenal and Piero Hincapie.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed these speculations, indicating he does not believe the Gunners are interested in offloading Hincapie during the winter window.

“When it comes to Piero Hincapie and the rumored swap deal between Arsenal and Barcelona, I don’t see this happening. Arsenal have no intention of selling Hincapie,” Romano remarked.
“Arsenal have no intention to make any changes to their defensive lineup for the January window, as they are very satisfied with their current players.
“We should talk about one of the most effective defenses in recent history, as Arsenal has excelled at defending, and Hincapie is capable of playing as both a centre-back and a left-back.

“He is a crucial player for Mikel Arteta, which is why I don’t foresee this transfer happening.”

Despite Hincapie’s recent reduced playing time, due in part to Riccardo Calafiori‘s impressive form, Hincapie remains a significant player for the team. His limited starts have occurred in the Champions League and League Cup, with no appearances yet in the Premier League this season.
Unfortunately, an ankle injury sidelined him during critical matches against Lille, Nottingham Forest, and Bayern Munich.

Nevertheless, the Ecuador international has made eight appearances across all competitions and is expected to see more action as the season progresses.
Arsenal’s success this season is largely attributed to their defensive depth, and the club is unlikely to compromise this strength merely because Hincapie has experienced a temporary absence from the starting lineup.
