Rodrigo Mora Celebrates Third Consecutive Goal for Roma and Portugal Call-Up
Rodrigo Mora embraces the unpredictability of football after netting his third consecutive Serie A goal for AS Roma. The 19-year-old talent looks ahead to representing senior Portugal, even in the absence of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
This summer, Roma secured Mora from FC Porto for €25 million, a significant investment for the club. It took him some time to adjust, but he shone in the recent match, scoring during the 3-0 win over Sassuolo, marking his third goal in a row in Serie A.
In his post-match comments to Sky Sport Italia, Mora stated, “It was a very good pass from Malen, I tried my luck, and I was happy to score another important goal, so Roma keep pushing with another win.” So far, he has achieved four goals in nine Serie A matches and added two assists in four Champions League appearances under coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Reflecting on his team’s potential, he said, “When I arrived here, I thought we were strong. Every time I train, I think we are a very good team, and we are proving that in matches. We need to keep this momentum going.”
Mora’s performance has notably improved in recent weeks, with the forward expressing the ups and downs experienced in his career. “Football is crazy because one day you don’t play, the next you play. I was ready; now it’s my third goal in a row, so it’s important to always be prepared when the moment comes.”
Additionally, Mora received a call-up for the senior Portugal national team, which is evolving now that Cristiano Ronaldo has hung up his international boots. He shared, “It’s a very proud moment for me and my family, and it is always a pleasure to play for Portugal. Now Cristiano is not there, but he is an idol for everyone in Portugal, including me. I learned a lot when I came to the national team, and I am very happy to be there.”
