Headline: Barcelona Aims to Retain Rising Star Ebrima Tunkara Amid Interest from Premier League Clubs
Barcelona is nurturing yet another promising talent from its famed La Masia academy, as Ebrima Tunkara emerges as a noteworthy prospect. The 16-year-old caught the eye of coach Hansi Flick during pre-season, making a strong impression before an injury sidelined him for several months. Tunkara recently returned to action and was called up to the first-team squad against Alaves last weekend due to Dani Olmo’s absence.
Although Tunkara has yet to make his debut for Barcelona, his talent has attracted attention from elite clubs across Europe. Premier League teams Aston Villa and Everton have both shown interest in acquiring the young player. However, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Barcelona intends to resist any offers for Tunkara.
Romano stated, “There are rumours about Aston Villa in the media, but there is no chance Barcelona will open the door for Ebrima Tunkara to leave.” He further emphasized that the club is committed to keeping one of its brightest academy talents, saying, “Forget about it because he is staying at Barcelona.” Moreover, there are indications that Barcelona may seek to extend Tunkara’s contract, which is currently set to run until 2029 after an earlier extension this year.
In terms of support, Hansi Flick has shown significant trust in Tunkara’s abilities. Romano noted, “Barcelona love Ebrima, Hansi Flick is very happy with Ebrima, and once again in training the boy is doing very, very well.” Tunkara’s recent performance in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored against Aston Villa, further showcased his potential.
Romano believes that Tunkara is on track to become the next La Masia prodigy to debut for Barcelona’s first team. “I think Ebrima Tunkara will be the next La Masia gem to make his first-team debut for Barcelona,” he said, underscoring the high regard the club has for the young talent. With Tunkara’s promising development, fans are eager to see when he will make his official debut for the Catalan giants.
