Marseille Appoints Bruno Génésio as New Head Coach
Marseille has officially announced the appointment of Bruno Génésio as the new head coach of the first team, effective July 1, 2026.
The 60-year-old coach brings extensive experience to the role, having previously managed Lyon, Beijing Guoan, Rennes, and Lille, where he concluded last season on a high note by securing a podium finish. Throughout his career, Génésio has overseen 300 Ligue 1 matches and 79 European fixtures.
Club chairman Stéphane Richard and sporting director Grégory Lorenzi highlighted that Génésio’s football vision aligns perfectly with Marseille’s development strategy. The new head coach expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating:
“I chose Olympique de Marseille because I was captivated by this project. This is a unique club with an exceptional history, a strong identity, and passionate supporters.”
Both Génésio and the club’s management have begun working together closely to shape the new squad for the upcoming season.
