Real Madrid have faced a difficult situation with Vinicius Jr.’s contract renewal in recent months, and talks reached a standstill after the two parties struggled to reach an agreement on economic terms.

The player, after all, wished to become the highest-paid player in the squad alongside Kylian Mbappe but Florentino Perez and Co. were opposed to handing the player such a massive raise in wages.

In recent weeks, the situation reached a crossroads where the club decided that a final call had to be made about Vinicius’ situation – be it a sale or a renewal with Real Madrid.

A positive sign

As reported by Defensa Central, negotiations between Vinicius and Real Madrid have been stagnant for a long time now. However, there are finally some signs of encouragement on that front.

Real Madrid have been working hard to seal Vinicius’ renewal in recent weeks, especially after his impressive performances at the FIFA World Cup, but matters are finally close to being closed.

An agreement between the two parties is close to being reached, and Vinicius Jr. even rejected two offers from the Premier League to keep the operation alive. Negotiations are in place, and he too dreams of staying at the club for the long term.

Real Madrid are still not willing to match Mbappe’s wages for the Brazilian, but Florentino Perez is ready to raise the player’s salary to €25 million per season to ensure an agreement can be reached.

Vinicius will return to training soon

Brazil’s campaign at the FIFA World Cup was not as illustrious as expected, especially as the team were eliminated in the Round of 16 of the competition.

The development was indeed a massive blow for the entire nation given the expectation on the national team, but Jose Mourinho sees it as a positive as the player can return early to the club dynamics.

As matters stand, Vinicius Jr. and Endrick are expected to return to Real Madrid’s preseason towards the end of July and will thus be available for the manager’s initial days at the club.

After all, he will be a key player for Mourinho next season and the club will hope he can carry forward the same form as he could produce in the World Cup.
