Burnley Defender Maxime Estève Set for €32m Move to RB Leipzig
Burnley FC defender Maxime Estève, 24, is reportedly preparing to join RB Leipzig, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The French defender, currently under contract with the Clarets until 2030, is expected to finalize a move to the German club for a fee of €32 million, including bonuses. While the two clubs are still finalizing the terms of the transfer, RB Leipzig management has reportedly already convinced Estève to sign. The defender is expected to replace Castello Lukeba, 23, who plans to depart the club in the coming weeks.
Estève first joined the Clarets on loan from Montpellier HSC in 2024 before completing a permanent transfer. The former French Under-23 international quickly became a vital player for the Lancashire side. Although he started in all 36 of his appearances during the 2025-26 season, he could not prevent the team from suffering relegation to the Championship.
By moving to Leipzig, Estève will transition to the Bundesliga and compete in the Champions League, following the German club’s third-place finish in the league last season.
