Manchester City host ‘shop window’ match to showcase talent for potential transfers

    • Man City have invited several clubs to attend a unique ‘shop window’ game on Tuesday

    • Around 25 players to be involved, where EFL Championship and Europe teams can negotiate deals

Manchester City will host a ‘shop window’ game on Tuesday that will feature as many as 25 players on the club’s loan and sell list this summer, as per a new report.

Following the departure of Pep Guardiola after 10 years at the Etihad Stadium, the Citizens now face a future mixed with excitement and uncertainty as Enzo Maresca prepares for his first season at the helm.

The club have already broken their record transfer fee after confirming the signing of Elliot Anderson for £116 million from Nottingham Forest, while Jeremy Monga has joined from Leicester City for £10 million plus add-ons.

Manchester City face battle to keep star Academy trio including Ryan McAidoo

Club legends John Stones and Bernardo Silva both left at the expiration of their contracts this summer, Nathan Ake swapped England for Turkey after joining Fenerbahce, and there are more departures expected across the remainder of the current window.

Even more so now, after journalist Alan Nixon reported that City have invited multiple clubs to attend the game on Tuesday, where up to 25 players will be involved, including some of the Blues’ more prominent academy figures.

There are expected to be several clubs in the EFL Championship present alongside sides in Europe. The fixture will serve as an opportunity to see some of City’s brightest sparks who will be available for loan or permanent moves.

Divine Mukasa, who played six times for City before spending the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Leicester, Maresca’s former club, is set to feature.

Jaden and Reigan Heskey, the sons of former England player Emile, will also feature alongside Max Alleyne, who was recalled from a loan move from Watford amid a defensive crisis.

Moreover, Spike Brits, Charlie Gray, and Issa Kabore will be involved, yet there is no word on the potential for Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips, who were posted training with each other on social media, to feature.

League One club confirm season-long loan for Manchester City goalkeeper

Grealish and Phillips, returning from loan spells at Everton and Sheffield United respectively, have 70 England caps between them and could stay at City beyond this summer as Maresca opts for more depth.

It was known that during Guardiola’s tenure, the Catalan preferred a smaller squad, but Maresca, although he operates with similar tactics and a like-minded philosophy, wants more players at City.

City are travelling to Asia for their pre-season tour, which begins when they take on Inter Milan in Hong Kong – replicating the 2023 UEFA Champions League final – before facing the K-League All-Stars in Seoul.
