Inter and Barcelona Eye Potential Move for Tottenham’s Cristian Romero
Inter Milan and Barcelona are monitoring Cristian Romero, as reports suggest the Argentina international could depart Tottenham Hotspur. The transfer news comes amid speculation that the 28-year-old may be looking for a way out of the London club.
While his current contract at Tottenham runs until June 2029, Romero is reportedly frustrated by the team’s ongoing struggles. Previous reports from Sportitalia indicated that the defender has been pushing for an exit this summer.
Romero proposed to Inter
According to transfer pundit Romano in his Italian-language YouTube channel, the subject of Romero came up during negotiations between Inter and Tottenham for Djed Spence.
Romano claims that Tottenham representatives suggested that Inter investigate the possibility of signing the Argentine defender.
The Serie A club is currently searching for an experienced centre-back. Romero would be a natural fit, particularly given the presence of his compatriots Lautaro Martinez and vice president Javier Zanetti at Inter.
Furthermore, Romero is already well-acquainted with Italian football. He joined Genoa in 2018 before moving to Juventus and later Atalanta, where he secured a €53.8m transfer to Tottenham in the summer of 2021.
However, Romano warns that a deal remains unlikely due to the significant financial costs involved. Additionally, there is also competition from Barcelona.
