Liverpool Eyes €100m Wing Reinforcement Following Salah’s Exit

A €100m deal appears ready to kickstart Liverpool‘s move for a new winger. The Reds need one – but they’ll require outside help.

Mohamed Salah’s exit means Liverpool need a winger. Honestly, they needed one anyway as their production from wide areas last season was quite terrible.

Victor Munoz has joined and will be an asset but is he enough? Probably not on his own, not after Salah left the club.

And Liverpool do know this. They’ve already pushed for one signing: Yan Diomande. The problem there is that he wants to join Paris Saint-Germain instead, ending the Reds’ realistic chances of landing him.

But there is some hope. Liverpool are actually looking at other PSG players as they might find their best options this summer are forced out by Diomande’s impending arrival.

The most likely of those appears to be Ibrahim Mbaye. He’s a player the Reds rate highly and as they should: he’s one of the best teenagers in world football, having just appeared for Senegal at the World Cup.

He’s also one who wants to leave in search of guaranteed football. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, and Liverpool may be best-suited to give him those minutes, seeing as Salah just vacated the flank with no clear successor.

To double down on that, Ben Jacobs says that Diomande is prioritising a move that sees him operate on the right flank. It’s his preferred position and given that Jacobs also says he’s got an agreement with PSG, it’s safe to say they’ve told him he’ll play there.

It would further reduce the minutes available to Mbaye, who already fancies a move away. It now looks near-certain that Diomande’s €100m+ arrival in Paris will force out the Senegal star.

Hopefully, that’s into Liverpool arms. Though, just having another winger on the books may be enough to see Bradley Barcola leave PSG – another that Liverpool are very, very keen on.
