Liverpool Faces Challenge After Mohamed Salah’s Departure
Liverpool have lost Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King has moved on having reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.
This development leaves the Reds without a starting right winger, as the club has so far been unsuccessful in securing a high-profile replacement.

Salah’s deputy – Federico Chiesa – hasn’t cut the mustard throughout his time at Anfield and is also expected to be moved on.
According to a report in Calciomercato, Bologna in Serie A is targeting the 28-year-old.
Chiesa, who remains under contract until 2028, has an estimated salary of €6m, prompting Bologna to seek financial assistance from Liverpool to facilitate the transfer.
As a result of the projected costs, Bologna can only pursue a loan agreement and would still need the Reds to subsidize Chiesa’s wages.
Chiesa Wants to Leave
Nonetheless, the same report claims that the Italian international is pushing for a Serie A return and aims to regain his place in the national squad.

“The name of Federico Chiesa has begun circulating in the city and among those close to the Rossoblu,” the report states.
“Currently playing for Liverpool – a spell where he didn’t really shine – the former Juventus player is pushing to return to Italy and re-establish himself at the national level, hoping to reclaim the Azzurri cap.
“In this sense, despite the challenges associated with a costly transfer, Tedesco’s new team will attempt to bring him back to Serie A.
“Chiesa earns around six million pounds per season, a figure significantly above Bologna’s salary structure.
“For this reason, the Rossoblu are pursuing a loan arrangement with Liverpool making a considerable contribution to his salary.”

Game Over for Chiesa at Anfield
Chiesa was the only major arrival during the 2024/25 season, a campaign that concluded with Liverpool lifting the Premier League title. However, his contributions remained minimal, as he made only two top-flight starts during the 2025/26 season.
He joined the club for £12m from Juventus in 2024, but expectations for the winger to make a significant impact have not been met.
Chiesa continues to seek opportunities for game time, and it remains uncertain whether he will participate in the preseason tour of the United States next week under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
