Roma Evaluates Sale of Manu Koné Amid Midfield Replacements
Roma is weighing the potential sale of Manu Koné. Reports from England suggest an imminent deal with Manchester United, and the French player’s exit could help the Giallorossi balance their finances.
However, losing the number 17 would create a gap in midfield that may prove challenging to fill.

According to Teleradiostereo, one player being considered as a replacement is Ederson from Atalanta. The Brazilian has previously shown strong support for Roma’s Grugliasco-born coach during their time together in Bergamo.
Ederson maintains good relationships with both the coach and club director Tony D’Amico. Nevertheless, securing his signature could be tricky due to the historically tense relations between the clubs.
Atalanta sold Ederson to Manchester United for approximately €45 million, but the transfer fell through after he failed a medical with the Red Devils.

The Bergamaschi are planning to extend the player’s contract, but if a bid similar to the previous one comes in, they would be open to a transfer again.
Newcastle also enters the mix as they look for a replacement after selling Sandro Tonali for €100 million, giving them considerable funds to work with.
Previous conflicts between Roma and Atalanta make negotiations difficult. To acquire Ederson, Roma will need to meet the asking price after Koné’s departure. While an attempt will likely be made, the final outcome remains uncertain.
