Rangers Finalize Deal for Serbian Skipper Vanja Dragojevic
A recent report from Serbian outlet Mozzart Sport reports that Rangers have struck a deal with Partizan Belgrade for their captain, Vanja Dragojevic. Initially, Rangers’ bid of around £3.8 million was rejected, but an improved offer of £4.6 million has now been accepted. Partizan will also retain a 10 percent sell-on clause for any future transfer.
The 20-year-old Serbian international developed through the youth systems at Altina Zemun and Partizan before being loaned to lower-league side Teleoptik for first-team experience. After returning to Partizan, his career saw a significant boost in the 2025-26 season when Israeli veteran Bibars Natcho was appointed captain following the departure of goalkeeper Aleksandar Jovanovic. Dragojevic, who was vice-captain and a regular starter, took on a leadership role more frequently than the now-retired midfielder.

All Roads Lead To Ibrox?
Dragojevic has made an impact with four goals and five assists in 52 senior appearances, primarily playing as a deep-lying playmaker. However, his absence from Partizan’s pre-season camp in Slovenia has sparked additional speculation regarding his future. Club sporting director Radosav Petrovic mentioned that indications would emerge soon regarding Dragojevic’s potential move.
“There are certain indications, and I believe that in the coming days we will have more concrete information. It is an offer for Vanja Dragojevic.”
Rangers have already made six new signings, including Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin, both acquired on Bosman transfers after opting to run down their contracts with Sunderland and Hearts. The club is aiming for a squad overhaul under manager Derek McInnes, with a few departures expected from the midfield.

Why Rangers Are Keen On The Serbian Star
The midfield at Rangers appears well-stocked with Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron, Mohamed Diomande, and Tochi Chukwuani vying for starting positions. Bailey Rice has been loaned out to Kilmarnock for more playing time, and it is likely that outcasts Jose Cifuentes and Lyall Cameron will be sold this summer. Raskin and Barron are attracting serious interest from top European clubs, prompting Rangers to consider cashing in on their valuable players soon.
Rangers are also pursuing Lewis Ferguson, Jens Hjertø-Dahl, and Ryan Fosso as McInnes looks to build a robust, dynamic midfield capable of driving a 4-4-2 formation. Dragojevic, known for his strength and tackling abilities along with solid technical skills as a ‘number six’, aims to secure a starting spot in Scottish football.
