Falkirk Secures Narrow Win Over Youthful Genk in Pre-Season Friendly
An early goal from Leon McCann propelled Falkirk to a narrow victory against a Genk side that was playing its second pre-season friendly within 24 hours.
The Belgians had previously triumphed over Motherwell with a score of 4-3 in Friday’s friendly at Fir Park.

However, they fell behind just six minutes into the match at Falkirk Stadium, thanks to a well-executed cross from trialist David Ninkovic, a 26-year-old Serbian winger formerly with Perth Azzurri.
Striker Ross MacIver missed his volley in front of goal, but full-back McCann was in position at the back post to convert the opportunity.
Noah Adedeji-Sternberg came close to equalizing when the Belgium Under-21 winger broke through on goal, only to send his shot crashing against the far post shortly after the hour mark.
Jelle Driessen then created a promising chance with a clever one-two at the edge of the penalty area, but the 17-year-old midfielder’s shot hit the underside of the bar with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Falkirk’s defense was again tested as the crossbar saved them from a powerful long-range effort by 18-year-old full-back Wout Kapers.
