Young Midfielder Quim Junyent Departs Barcelona for Almeria After Ten Years

Barcelona’s youth academy has seen notable changes this summer, culminating in the emotional farewell of midfielder Quim Junyent. The 19-year-old has officially departed the club after completing his move to Almeria, marking the end of a decade-long journey at La Masia.

Junyent is the latest talent to leave Barcelona, following Andres Cuenca, as several promising academy graduates pursue new opportunities this season. While Cuenca has joined Como, Junyent is ready to embrace a new chapter after playing a key role in helping Spain clinch the UEFA Under-19 European Championship, where he earned the title of Most Valuable Player.

Junyent Leaves Barcelona After Decade at La Masia

Junyent began his journey at Barcelona as a young boy, ascending through all levels of La Masia to become a respected midfielder in the academy. He significantly contributed to Juvenil A’s historic treble-winning season in 2024/25 and was anticipated to become a key figure in Juliano Belletti’s Barcelona Atlètic squad.

However, his path became more complex as limited first-team opportunities and uncertainty about his role led him to seek advancement elsewhere. Reports linking him to Almeria during the winter transfer window further disrupted his situation, resulting in fewer chances with the reserve side prior to his return to Juvenil A.

    Junyent’s Emotional Farewell to Barcelona

Following the Under-19 European Championship, Junyent shared his farewell to Barcelona. In a heartfelt message reflecting on his ten years with the club, he expressed gratitude for realizing a lifelong dream.

“I am very fortunate to be able to say that I played for Barça – a dream come true,” he stated. His message included two poignant photographs: one taken at the Johan Cruyff Stadium and another capturing young Junyent kissing the Barcelona crest upon joining the club.

His farewell resonated with many, drawing supportive messages from former teammates and other notable figures from the Barcelona academy, including Pau Cubarsi and Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
