Spain and Argentina Reach World Cup 2026 Final, Featuring Real Madrid’s Marc Cucurella

Spain and Argentina have advanced to the World Cup 2026 final after defeating France and England in the semi-finals. Several prominent players, including Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, Ibrahima Konate, and Jude Bellingham were all eliminated at the penultimate stage of the competition, will not participate in the final; however, one Real Madrid player, Marc Cucurella, has secured his spot.

Although Cucurella has not yet joined the Merengue club, he was confirmed as a new Real Madrid player prior to Spain’s World Cup campaign and has been registered as part of Los Blancos during the tournament.

According to Diario AS, Cucurella’s participation marks Real Madrid’s representation in the World Cup final for the eighth consecutive time. The last occurrence without a Real Madrid player in the final was in 1994, when Brazil triumphed over Italy. Additionally, no Los Blancos players were present in the most recent final.

In 1998, Christian Karembeu represented France in the final against Brazil. In subsequent editions, Roberto Carlos and Zinedine Zidane also showcased their talents for Real Madrid in World Cup finals in 2002 and 2006, respectively.

The 2010 World Cup final featured the highest number of Real Madrid players, with five athletes— Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa, and Raul Albiol—being part of the Spanish team. In 2014, Sami Khedira and Angel di Maria faced off in the final as Germany and Argentina clashed.

Similarly, in 2018, Raphael Varane and Luka Modric represented France and Croatia, leading their teams to the ultimate match. Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga reappeared in the final with France in 2022, competing against Argentina.

Tonight, Marc Cucurella will take the field as Real Madrid’s representative in the World Cup final, with hopes that he will emerge victorious.
