Arsenal Searches for Centre-Back Replacement Amid Saliba Injury
With William Saliba (25) set to be out for an ‘extended period’ while he recovers from a recurring back injury, Arsenal have begun the search for a new centre-back in the short term to cover for the French international defender, according to a report from The Athletic. Central defence was not a priority for the Premier League champions but the injury blow suffered by the 25-year-old has shifted the dynamic in North London.
The former Saint-Étienne defender will now undergo an extended rehabilitation period as he bids to return to full fitness. Arsenal have not provided a timeframe on the 25-year-old’s return to first team action. It was feared that he may need surgery but it has been determined this is not the best course of action.
