Reports on Thursday indicate that Luka Modric has signed his new contract with AC Milan, with only a formal club confirmation pending.
Milan Expected to Announce Modric’s Contract by Day’s End
Modric, who will celebrate his 41st birthday in September, has completed a one-year contract extension. His new wages are reported to be €3.5 million (net) plus bonuses, according to TMW. An official announcement from Milan could come as soon as the end of the afternoon.

Modric first signed with Milan in the summer of 2025, securing an initial one-year contract that included an option to extend.
Despite exceeding personal expectations in his debut season at San Siro, the team collectively underperformed, finishing fifth and missing out on Champions League football.
This disappointing result led to the exits of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and CEO Giorgio Furlani the day after the season concluded.
Concerns had arisen regarding the potential departure of several star players, including Modric, who was contemplating his future for the 2026-27 season.

While there were suggestions of a potential backroom role at his former club, Real Madrid, Modric has ultimately chosen to continue playing for another year in Milan. He and his teammates are now focused on securing Champions League qualification under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
