Burnley Signs AFC Bournemouth Defender Jessica Hennessy on One-Year Deal
Burnley FC has announced the signing of defender Jessica Hennessy from AFC Bournemouth on a one-year contract. The announcement was made through a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 24-year-old Hennessy will join the team at Turf Moor for the upcoming season.

Hennessy began her senior career in her home country of the Republic of Ireland with Athlone Town in the SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division. She later played for Shamrock Rovers before moving to Nottingham Forest in 2024. While at Nottingham, Hennessy contributed to the team that won the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title. She then transferred to AFC Bournemouth last summer, where she secured the FA Women’s National League Cup.
Now, Hennessy aims to make an impact in the English second tier with Burnley.
Upon joining the club, Hennessy expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m extremely grateful. I think this is a brilliant club that I’m so lucky to be at, and I’m absolutely buzzing.”
“Getting up to WSL2 was a goal for me, so to be here is massive for my career,” she added. “The club’s overall goals align with mine.”

“I give everything I’ve got, 100% all the time. I play with my heart on my sleeve for whoever I’m playing for and whoever I’m playing with,” she said, highlighting her on-field passion and aggression as key attributes.
Hennessy’s signing coincides with the announcement that forward Claudia Mummery-Walker has also signed a new two-year deal with Burnley, which includes an option for an additional year.
