Real Madrid Signs Young Talent Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig for £120 Million

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Ivory Coast sensation Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to £120 million (€140m) on a seven-year contract.

The 19-year-old winger has committed his future to the Spanish giants until the summer of 2033 after Madrid finally reached an agreement with Leipzig following weeks of negotiations over add-ons.

Diomande arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu after a remarkable rise that has seen him go from La Liga relegation with Leganes to becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after attackers in little over 18 months.

Leipzig signed the teenager for just €20m last summer, but his value skyrocketed after a sensational debut campaign in Germany.

He finished the 2025/26 season with 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, earning the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award and catching the attention of Europe’s elite.

His stock climbed even higher after starring for Cote d’Ivoire at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, convincing Madrid president Florentino Perez to sanction one of the biggest transfers in the club’s history.

Madrid faced fierce competition for his signature as he was one of the most sought-after wingers in the market.

Paris Saint-Germain had previously been considered favourites after agreeing personal terms with the player, while Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City all monitored his progress.

However, the Spanish giants ultimately blew their rivals away with a package Leipzig could not refuse.

Diomande becomes Madrid’s latest marquee addition in a busy summer alongside Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella.

Returning Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho is expected to deploy the explosive winger on the right flank alongside Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

Madrid are looking to wrestle the La Liga title back from Barcelona, who have won the trophy three times in the last four seasons.

Madrid continue to chase Manchester City midfielder Rodri, but Barcelona have entered the race.
