Everton Considers Richarlison Return Amid Transfer Speculations

Everton is exploring a potential move for Richarlison following new transfer reports from HimothyReports on X. Manager David Moyes has yet to decide on whether to proceed, although the former Goodison Park favorite has made the club’s list of attacking targets. Tottenham Hotspur is only considering offers exceeding £35 million, as their valuation is set between £35m and £40m, leaving Everton with a significant decision before any approach.

Everton Eye Familiar Face as Striker Options Emerge

Another name in consideration is Nicolas Jackson, who has drawn interest from Everton, while Aston Villa is also monitoring the Chelsea forward as well. Moyes now has two distinct attacking profiles to evaluate as he assesses areas in need of an upgrade ahead of the new season.

Richarlison regained his form during the 2025/26 season, overcoming previous injury issues. The Brazilian international netted 11 Premier League goals and provided four assists in 32 league appearances. In total, he concluded the season with 12 goals and five assists across 42 matches, including a crucial goal during Tottenham’s UEFA Champions League campaign.

T4O Take: Everton Should Keep Emotion Out of This Decision

Fans would likely embrace Richarlison’s return, given his previous commitment, intensity, and connection with the fanbase. His 48 senior Brazil caps further attest to his quality. Roberto De Zerbi has commended his work ethic since taking over at Spurs, although reports indicate Richarlison has expressed a desire for a fresh challenge as he approaches the end of his contract.

However, emotion should not dictate Everton’s transfer strategy. £35 million is a significant investment for a player nearing 30, especially considering expected high wages that could inflate the overall cost.

Everton Should Spend That Budget Elsewhere

Richarlison tends to be more effective when attacking from the left or roaming around a central striker rather than leading the attack himself. Moyes typically employs a powerful striker who occupies defenders and facilitates play. This tactical mismatch cannot be overlooked.

Additionally, Richarlison’s high-energy style has led to recurring muscle injuries in recent seasons, making any substantial investment potentially risky. Tottenham reportedly aims to generate funds for acquiring Victor Osimhen, justifying their valuation. Everton could derive greater value by allocating that budget toward a younger, creative player with stronger resale potential, rather than committing a large portion of funds to a familiar figure whose prime may already be behind him.
