Middlesbrough has acquired goalkeeper Radek Vitek from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Czech Republic international spent the previous season on loan at Bristol City in the Championship, where he made 41 league appearances.

Vitek is the seventh addition to Middlesbrough this summer, following their 1-0 victory over Wrexham in the Carabao Cup on Friday.

“The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go,” he stated on the club’s website.

“The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League. I think everyone at the club has that mindset, and I want the same thing.”

Vitek may make his debut for Middlesbrough in their Championship opener against promoted Lincoln City next Saturday.

The club has not revealed the length of Vitek’s contract.
