Ferran Torres Set to Join Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona

Barcelona striker Ferran Torres has reached an agreement to transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The 26-year-old forward has entered the final year of his contract at Camp Nou, prompting speculation that Barcelona might sell him this summer.

Torres has consented to a four-year deal with PSG, and the two clubs are reportedly in advanced discussions to finalize the transfer. PSG aims to secure the player for around €50 million, aiming to strengthen their attacking lineup following the departures of Goncalo Ramos, Lee Kang-in, and Randal Kolo Muani in the ongoing transfer window.

PSG has identified Torres as a crucial target, especially since he emerged as a standout player for Spain during the recent World Cup, scoring the key goal in the final against Argentina.

Since arriving from Manchester City in December 2021, Torres has played an integral role at Barcelona. Last season, he netted 21 goals in 49 matches, contributing to the team’s La Liga title and Supercopa de España victory.

However, he also went through a challenging stretch, failing to score in 14 consecutive games between late January and mid-April.

Should Barcelona consider extending Torres’ contract, they would need to pay an additional €8 million to Manchester City, following an original fee of €55 million plus €10 million in add-ons. This situation adds another layer of motivation for the Catalan club to sell the striker this summer.

Torres’ future at the Camp Nou has been a source of speculation. He has entered the final year of his contract, suggesting Barcelona could opt to sell him this summer.

The Spaniard has given the green light for a transfer, agreeing to sign a four-year deal with PSG.

The two clubs are reportedly locked in negotiations and an agreement is said to be close.

PSG are prepared to pay a fee around €50 million for the 26-year-old’s signature.

The Ligue 1 giants are desperate to reinforce their attack after the departures of Goncalo Ramos, Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani in the ongoing transfer window.

PSG have firmly set their sights on Torres, who was the hero for Spain at the World Cup. He scored the decisive goal for his country in the final against Argentina.

Torres has been an important player for Barcelona since joining them from Manchester City in December 2021.

He scored 21 goals in 49 appearances last season, helping the Catalan club retain the La Liga crown and win the Supercopa de Espana.

But the forward also went 14 games without scoring between late January and mid-April.

If Barcelona decide to extend Torres’ contract, they would have to fork out an additional €8m to City, despite already paying an initial €55m fee plus €10m in add-ons.

This is another incentive for the Blaugrana to sell the striker this summer.
