Southampton Midfielder Romeo Akachukwu Celebrates First Senior Goal
Young Southampton midfielder Romeo Akachukwu expressed that scoring his first senior goal for the club means “the world” to him. Having played 50 matches for Southampton’s U21 side and scoring 11 goals, Akachukwu impressed during the Saints’ first pre-season game against Eastleigh in July, following which he joined the team for their training camp in Germany.
“I’ve had conversations with the manager about this season,” Akachukwu mentioned. “He just wants me to keep working, and you never know what’s around the corner; injuries could happen elsewhere in the team.” He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus, patience, and dedication, stating, “We all know the quality that we have in this team, and I’m more than happy to learn behind those boys. When I get my chance, like today, I will continue to take it.”
