Sevilla has officially acquired Scottish striker Robbie Ure from Swedish league leaders IK Sirius for an initial fee of £5.5 million.

The 22-year-old completed his medical on Monday and has signed a five-year contract, taking on the role of leading striker at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

The La Liga club will pay 6.5 million euros (£5.5 million) upfront, with an additional 2.5 million euros (£2.1 million) in potential add-ons.

Ure will join the ranks of Scottish players at Sevilla, becoming the third Scottish-born athlete to compete officially for the club, following Ted McMinn in the 1980s and Duncan McVean Thomson during the 1915-16 season.

Sevilla also highlighted two notable Scots in its announcement: former manager Jock Wallace, who led the team during the 1986-87 season, and the club’s first president, Edward Farquharson Johnston.

Ure, a former Scotland Under-19 international, gained attention across Europe after an impressive season, scoring 20 goals and providing three assists in 20 matches for Sirius.

He began his professional career at Rangers, where he netted once in three first-team appearances, before moving to Belgian club Anderlecht in 2023, though he made only one senior appearance there.

His time in Sweden has been marked by significant success, with 31 goals and seven assists in 50 matches since his arrival at Sirius in March 2025.

His performance includes 15 goals in the league, leading the team to a commanding 12-point lead atop the Allsvenskan standings as the season approaches its midpoint.

Although he is yet to choose a senior national team, Ure is eligible to represent Ukraine but has expressed a preference to await a call-up to the Scottish national team, as he mentioned in an interview with BBC Scotland last month.
