Olivia Moultrie Out for NWSL Season Due to ACL Injury
Portland Thorns and USWNT midfielder Olivia Moultrie sustained an ACL injury to her right knee during training last week and has been ruled out for the rest of the NWSL season.
The 20-year-old Moultrie, who joined the Thorns in 2021 and has made 79 appearances for the team, has been placed on the Season-Ending Injury (SEI) list. In this season, she scored five goals and provided five assists across 16 games.

“Olivia is one of the most driven players I have been around, and she will use that drive during her recovery and rehabilitation,” stated Thorns president and general manager of soccer operations Jeff Agoos. “She has our full support and every resource this club can put behind her.”
On the international stage, Moultrie has represented the United States 18 times since receiving her first call-up in 2023, contributing five goals in three USWNT victories.
The injury will also prevent Moultrie from participating in the Concacaf Women’s Championship starting in November in Texas. This tournament will serve as the qualifying event for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil next summer, as well as the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Moultrie, recognized as the 2023 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, was part of the USWNT squad that won the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup.
Currently, the Thorns hold a record of 9-6-4 through 19 games and sit in fifth place on the league table.
