Barcelona Increases Bid for Manchester City’s Rodri to £55 Million

Barcelona have reportedly raised their offer to £55 million for Manchester City midfielder Rodri. Earlier, their initial bid of £38.5 million was swiftly rejected by City. The Catalan club’s second proposal of £51.4 million also failed to persuade the English team to sell their star player.

According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Barcelona is currently engaged in positive discussions with City following their increased offer.

Rodri, who has just one year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, has expressed his reluctance to extend his deal. Despite this, Manchester City remains firm in their valuation of £60 million.

Barcelona’s latest bid is now close to City’s asking price, and a resolution appears to be on the horizon. Earlier this summer, Real Madrid had shown interest in acquiring Rodri and seemed poised to strike a deal. However, Barcelona has since moved ahead in negotiations, reaching personal terms with the player.

Rodri played a crucial role in Spain’s victory at the 2026 World Cup, participating in all eight matches and earning the tournament’s Golden Ball for his exceptional performances.

The 30-year-old has been integral to Manchester City’s success since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2019, helping secure four Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League trophy.

Barcelona have reportedly submitted an improved bid of £55 million for Manchester City star Rodri.

The Blaugrana’s opening £38.5m offer was quickly turned down by City. Their next proposal of £51.4m also failed to convince the English giants to part ways with their midfielder.

Barcelona have now improved their offer to around £55m as positive talks continue with City, per transfer reporter Ben Jacobs.

Rodri has only a year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and he has made it clear he doesn’t want to renew his deal.

Despite their weak negotiating position, City insist on meeting their £60m valuation.

Barcelona’s latest offer is close to their asking price, and an agreement is expected to be reached soon.

Real Madrid were working on a deal to sign Rodri earlier this summer, and it looked they would eventually secure a transfer.

But Barcelona entered the race and leapfrogged Madrid to agree personal terms with the Spaniard.

Rodri was instrumental in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph. He featured in all eight matches for his country and was awarded the tournament’s Golden Ball for his impressive displays.

The 30-year-old has been one of the most important players for Man City over the years.

Since arriving in Manchester from Atletico Madrid in 2019, he has won four Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League.
