Borussia Dortmund’s young defensive talent Almugera Kabar is on the brink of a loan transfer to the Netherlands after weeks of negotiations. Local newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten reports that the 20-year-old defender may even have the chance to play Champions League football with his new club. Details regarding the specific team and terms of the loan have not yet been disclosed.

This potential move marks another effort to ensure Kabar secures regular senior football, a crucial step for a player once viewed as one of Dortmund’s most promising defensive prospects.

Kabar has fallen out of head coach Niko Kovac’s first-team plans and spent considerable time last season in Dortmund’s reserve squad. However, he managed an impressive tally of four goals and one assist over 10 appearances in the Regionalliga, showcasing his potential.

A possible transfer to Hamburg was nearly finalized in January, as Kabar was attracted to Merlin Polzin’s project at Hamburg and a loan move was anticipated with a purchase option. However, this deal collapsed over differing evaluations of Kabar’s fitness, although he did not officially fail the medical examination.
