Michaely Bihina emerged as the star of the match, as the Cameroon goalkeeper saved an extra-time penalty as well as three additional spot kicks during a shootout, propelling her team into the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) at the expense of host nation Morocco.

The 22-year-old initially thwarted Fatima Tagnaout’s penalty attempt in the 118th minute, concluding the match in Rabat with a score of 0-0 after 120 minutes of play.

Bihina then masterfully denied shots from Kenza Chappelle, Maryame Atiq, and Sakina Ouzraoui, leaving the crowd at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in stunned silence.

Defender Maryam Nyadjou, who is also a teenager, maintained her composure to secure a 3-1 victory in the penalty shootout for the Central Africans.

The Indomitable Lionesses are set to face Malawi in the final on Sunday at 19:00 GMT, following the southern Africans’ 3-1 win over Algeria earlier on Wednesday.
